What is a Prepaid PPA?

A Prepaid PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) is a way for customers to lock in their energy rates and avoid the rising cost of power. In exchange for a one-time payment, Origin Financial LLC provides 20 years of guaranteed power, provided by solar and battery storage equipment that we install, monitor, and maintain. This means you lock in your power bill for two decades, during which Origin Financial LLC guarantees that power flows to your home. If our system doesn’t produce, you don’t pay us.

Can I Get a Tax Credit through Origin Financial LLC?

Tax credits exist to help consumers and businesses save money on their energy bills. Unfortunately, starting in 2025, homeowners can no longer recieve a tax credit. However, businesses like Origin Financial LLC still can, and we share those savings with you in the form of lower energy rates.

Is a PPA a Lease?

No. A lease is a finance contract that gives you the right to use equipment, but doesn’t guarantee the equipment will work. For instance, in the case of most car leases, you have to pay the monthly lease payment whether or not you use the car, and even while the car is in the shop being repaired. Leases are also subject to sales tax, which increases cost. Instead, Origin Financial LLC sells energy services: we guarantee the delivery of power to your home, monitor and maintain the equipment, and keep it in good working order.

Who’s Responsible for System Maintenance?

To meet our power production guarantee, Origin Financial LLC proactively monitors and maintains the solar and battery storage system. You don’t have to worry about how—or even if—the system’s working. We handle it.

Can I Own the System?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can. Many companies make it difficult for you to own the system. At Origin Financial LLC, we want you to enjoy the benefits of these proven technologies and our professional service, and pay for it in the way that makes the most sense for you. Solar systems will generate energy for 30 years or more—NASA solar panels from the 1960s are still producing electricity today. When you pre-pay for energy service from Origin Financial LLC — 20 years for solar or 10 years for battery storage—then you may, at your option, buy the system’s remaining years of energy production starting after the sixth anniversary of your contract. (Waiting six years to buy the system is a federally mandated requirement).

Do I Pay if the System Isn’t Producing Power?

No. With Origin Financial LLC production guarantee, if your system doesn’t produce, you don’t pay.

What if I Sell My Home?

Accepted Answer

Transferring a Origin Financial LLC PPA to your buyer is easy, and allows you to add to the value of your home with the built-in benefit of energy savings. Alternatively, if you’ve been a Origin Financial LLC customer for six years, you can take ownership of the system and sell it as part of your home.
